Three members of staff at Paragon Vets have achieved important new qualifications.
They have now become SQP’s (Suitably Qualified Persons) after passing exams which demonstrate a thorough knowledge of animal health and an understanding of the legal system regarding animal medicines.
Within a two year time limit, as well as passing numerous exams to demonstrate their knowledge of animal health, disease, parasites, pharmaceuticals et cetra, they have completed modules on each species group and completed practical work projects.
It means that Head Nurse Karen Richardson, Senior Receptionist Andrea Longcake and Farm Animal Administrator Cheryl Watson who are all based at Paragon's Dalston centre can now administer and give advice on certain medicines without a Vet having to be present. They’ll soon be joined by Veterinary Nurse Glen Fothergill from the Newbiggin base who takes her exams this month.
Paragon Managing Director Director David Black said: "I am delighted and proud that Karen, Andrea and Cheryl have applied themselves so well to this new challenge, and passed with flying colours. Their thorough understanding of animal health and responsible medicines use will add much value to the service that Paragon strives to deliver."
