Robbery and drugs charges

Detectives from Cumbria Constabulary’s Serious and Organised Crime Unit have charged four people with robbery and drugs offences.

On Wednesday, 21 July 2010 arrests took place in various locations in West Cumbria and Manchester. Several premises were searched, including a warehouse at Glasson Industrial Estate, Maryport, where a cannabis farm with more than 500 plants was discovered.

Jason Baker, 25, of Heatherdale Drive, Manchester, is charged with conspiring with others to commit robbery at financial institutions in Cumbria.

Mark Anthony Bower, 43, of Church Road, Harrington, is charged with conspiracy to produce cannabis.

Nicholas John Wilson, 28, of Hollin Bank Court, Blackburn, is charged with conspiracy to produce cannabis.

Baker, Bower and Wilson will appear at West Allerdale Magistrates Court on Friday 23 July 2010 where an application will be made for a remand in custody.

Paul David Sharpe, 35, of Bolton Street, Workington, is charged with conspiracy to produce cannabis. He has been bailed to appear at West Allerdale Magistrates Court on Friday, 23 July.

A further 55-year-old Workington man remains in police custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
